Shalom, this is my first time joining the Next Gen Project. Of course I do have concerns and worries due to the fact I know my Bahasa isn't strong enough for me to communicate with the natives. By God's grace, I managed to complete this fascinating and memorable journey with my team.
I was assigned to have a sharing to a bunch of teenagers who rarely speak and barely understand English and that makes me feel butterflies in my stomach and anxious as I mentioned my Bahasa is just a Cukup Makan type. With the help, patience and encouragement of my team, I made it. Thank God. I shared about the Boys and Girls Relationship (BGR) and talked about my past that has made me today. Surprisingly, through the feedback forms and feedback from my teammates, those teenagers do understand what I am trying to present and to inspire and motivate them to choose education instead of falling in love at a very young age. Trust me, money can’t buy this feeling because I had served what God wanted me to which I thought I couldn't make it.
God has His timing, trust Him. I was lost and down because I knew I was going to be a burden to my team. Whilst drowning in my mind, a teenager showed up and told me how he ended up getting injured from falling off the drain. Suddenly, my world had lightened up and all the worries vanished. I know it was Him comforting me indirectly and made me almost teared up.
On the last night of serving, those energetic teenagers became so sentimental and emotional when realizing that we were leaving, asking us to come visit them again in the future. I can see how God works upon them, they do really appreciate us and embrace the faith from God wholeheartedly. I was impressed. In short, this is a wonderful and unforgettable experience of serving people by the name of Jesus at the place which is 3 thousand kilometers away from my home. Praise the Lord and I am grateful for being through ups and downs with my team. I do appreciate them a lot as they taught me of being a part of a group and showed me love among us.
